Sign and return a document with no printer
Sign and return a document from your armchair, with no printer, no scanner and no walk to the mailbox.
The words "please print, sign and return" have stopped a great many perfectly capable people in their tracks. There are three ordinary ways round it.
A fourth route works everywhere: sign a piece of paper, photograph it with your phone, and send the photograph back. Nobody has needed a scanner for years.

What to remember
- Check who sent it before you sign it. That one row is worth more than everything else on the screen.
- A handful of documents still want ink — a will, some deeds. Everything else has moved on, and so can you.
- A photograph taken on a phone is accepted almost everywhere a scan used to be.
