Stop it ringing at night
Make the phone go quiet at bedtime and come back on in the morning, without missing anything that matters.
Turning the phone off overnight works, but then the alarm does not go off and nobody can reach you if something happens.
There is a better switch, and every phone has one. It lets the phone sit quietly all night while still letting through the handful of people you choose.
Key points
- Set the phone to go quiet automatically every night
- Let favorites, and anybody who calls twice, through anyway
- Turn it on for an hour from Control Center, and have it end by itself
- Know that notifications are silenced rather than deleted — the messages are still there
What to remember
- The setting is called Do Not Disturb, or sometimes Focus, and it always lives in Settings.
- Do Not Disturb only ever silences. It never blocks, delays or deletes.
- The crescent moon in Control Center is the same switch as the one in Settings.
Try this
Open Settings on your own phone and look for Do Not Disturb or Focus. You do not have to switch anything on — go and find where it lives, so it is not a mystery at eleven o’clock one night.
