Read a certificate warning
Why the browser stopped you, and the safe way to reach the place you wanted.
A certificate is a site’s proof of who it is. The warning means your browser could not check that proof.
It may be an expired certificate. It may be somebody standing in the middle. Type nothing into that page.
Key points
- A certificate warning means your browser could not confirm who answered
- Go back, type nothing, and reach the organization a way you already had
What to remember
- A route you already had cannot be redirected.
- A warned page gets nothing typed into it.
Try this
Find the padlock in your browser’s address bar on a site you trust and press it once.
