When you keep losing the pointer
Never again have to waggle the mouse about hunting for a small white arrow.
The pointer is a white arrow about a sixth of an inch tall, with a thin black outline, on a screen with a million other things on it. No wonder it gets lost.
There are three fixes, they take about a minute between them, and any one of them alone would probably do.
Key points
- Make the pointer larger and give it a color, under Accessibility
- Set Ctrl to draw a ring around it whenever you tap the key
- Turn on pointer trails if a moving arrow is hard to follow
- Know that these settings are yours alone and travel nowhere
What to remember
- Size 4 or 5 suits most people. Bigger than that starts to get in the way of what you are reading.
- Comfort settings are private and local. There is no reason to feel self-conscious about any of them.
- Pointer trails help too, especially on an older screen where a moving arrow tends to vanish.
Try this
Set your own pointer to size 4 and see how it feels for a day. If you have a Mac, shake the mouse quickly instead and watch what happens.
