The letter from the doctor’s office
Take something that has arrived on a computer and put it somewhere you would find it again in a year — on your own, with nobody telling you how.
Everything in this course has been building to one thing: knowing where something is.
So here is a computer that is not yours, with somebody else’s clutter on it, and one job. There are no instructions this time, and there is no right order. Do it however makes sense to you.
Key points
- Find something on a computer when you are not sure where it went.
- Make a folder, name it, and put things in it.
- Move something without making a second copy of it by accident.
What to remember
- Downloads on your own computer works exactly like that one: it is where everything that has ever arrived goes, whether you asked for it or not. Making a folder and moving something into it is the same three presses on any machine you will ever sit at.
- Honestly — how was that?
Try this
Open the Downloads folder on your own computer and look at what is in it. You do not have to tidy anything — just see how much has quietly landed there.
