Set a reminder you will hear from another room
Set a reminder that repeats by itself, says what it is for, and is loud enough to hear from another room.
Almost everybody has tried this and given up. The reminder that fails is missing a repeat, a label, a sound loud enough, or any way of telling afterwards whether you acted on it.
The clock that came with your phone does the first three better than most apps sold for the purpose. Already there, already loud, and no account.
Key points
- Set a repeating, labeled alarm in the clock that came with the phone
- Turn the snooze off, so a reminder cannot be postponed half asleep
- Set a second reminder, in the calendar, to order a refill a week before you run out
- Say what a reminder cannot do, and take that question to a pharmacist
What to remember
- A labeled, repeating alarm with no snooze is all the expensive apps are selling.
- A phone answers when. Something physical — a pill organizer, a routine, a place on the counter — answers whether.
Try this
Set one alarm two minutes from now and put the phone in the next room. Ten seconds of testing answers the only question that matters — whether you will hear it.
