What actually drains the battery
See which app is eating your day, and stop worrying about the things that make no difference at all.
The single hungriest thing on a phone is the screen. Everything else — apps, signal, Wi-Fi — is a rounding error beside it.
Which means the honest answer to "why does my battery go so quickly?" is usually "because the screen was on for four hours, at full brightness". That is not a fault, and it is not something you did wrong.
Key points
- Read the Battery list and see which app really took the day
- Turn on Low Power Mode when you are out and away from a charger
- Stop swiping apps closed, which was never helping
- Set Auto-Lock to 30 seconds and let the brightness look after itself
What to remember
- The battery list is the only honest witness. Everything else is guesswork.
- Screen brightness and heat are the two that matter. Almost everything else people do is habit rather than help.
- Auto-Lock at 30 seconds is the setting almost nobody changes, and it saves more than anything else.
Try this
Open Settings → Battery on your own phone and look at yesterday. Almost everybody is surprised by which app is at the top of that list, and it is nearly always one they had not suspected.
