Say what a redirect is
See where a short link actually took you, and keep the real address.
A redirect is one web address passing you straight on to another. Short links and old bookmarks do it.
So the address you pressed and the address you arrive at are often different. The last one is where you are.
Key points
- A redirect passes you from one address straight on to another
- The address bar, once the page settles, says where you are
What to remember
- Read the address bar after the page settles, not before.
- Where you ended up is what the address bar says.
Try this
Follow a short link from a newsletter you trust and watch the address bar change.
