Add the few apps worth having, and clear the rest
Install something you have chosen for yourself, tell a good one from a bad one before you press the button, and take off the dozen that came with the tablet and have never been opened.
The word makes it sound technical. It is not. An app is a program somebody wrote, put in a store, and you fetched. The tablet has a store built into it, and you already own the register.
The useful thing to know is which of the four kinds you are looking at, because the price on the button is very often not the price of the thing.
Key points
- Tell the four kinds of app apart before you press the button
- Read the line about purchases inside, which is where the real price hides
- Judge an app by how many people rated it and when it was last looked after
- Remove anything you have never opened, knowing your own things are untouched
What to remember
- Three things to check: how many people have rated it, when it was last updated, and whether it offers purchases inside.
- Removing an app never removes what it made. Your photographs, your documents and your account all survive it, and fetching it back costs nothing.
- Anything you have bought or fetched stays in your account for ever. Removing it from the tablet is not the same as giving it up.
Try this
Open Settings, then Storage, on your own tablet and sort the list by size. Find one thing over half a gigabyte that you have never opened, and take it off. It will be a game.
