The same post, the same diary, on both machines
Add your existing email address to the tablet in about a minute, and have an appointment written on one device appear on the other before you have put it down.
This is the idea that unlocks the whole thing, and almost nobody is ever told it. Your email does not live on your phone. It lives on a computer belonging to whoever gives you the address, and your phone is a window onto it.
Add the same address to the tablet and you have opened a second window onto the same room. Nothing is copied, nothing is moved, and nothing can be lost in the process. A letter read on the tablet shows as read on the phone a moment later.

- Adding an account never makes a new address. It points the tablet at the one you already have.

- The reminder is the point. A diary that does not nudge you is a diary you have to remember to look at.
Try this
On your own tablet, open Settings and look for the section listing your accounts. Check whether the diary is switched on for the address that is already there. On a great many tablets it is not, and that one switch is the whole lesson.
