Only page three, or two to a sheet
Print exactly the pages you want, two to a sheet and on both sides, and see what will come out before it does.
A print panel looks crowded, and most people press the big button and hope. There are five things on it that matter, and between them they save an enormous amount of paper.
Two settings, pressed together, turn a twelve-page document into three sheets of paper. Neither of them changes a word of what it says.
If Both sides is not offered at all, that is your answer: the machine cannot turn a sheet over by itself. You can still do it by hand — print the odd pages, put the stack back in, print the even ones — and the panel usually offers to walk you through it.

Open anything with more than one page and press Print, then find the Preview. Look at how many sheets it says, then close the panel without printing. Nothing is sent until you press the button, so this costs nothing at all.
