The one thing that stops it working
Spot the moment a budget quietly stops updating itself, and put it back.
There is a quick way to tell which is which. Press a box and look at the wide bar along the top. If it shows something beginning with an equals sign, that box is doing a job — leave it be. If it shows a plain number, it is only a number.

Find any total in a spreadsheet you already keep and press the box it sits in. Read the wide bar along the top. A plain number there means that total stopped being true the last time anything above it changed — and pressing Add up again puts it right.
