Keeping a photograph somebody sent you
Take a picture out of a message and put it into your own photographs, so it survives the message being deleted.
When your daughter sends you a picture of the baby, that picture is sitting inside the message. It is not in your photographs, and looking at it a hundred times will not put it there.
That matters because messages do not last for ever. Phones get replaced, conversations get tidied up, apps clear out old pictures to save room, and a new phone very often arrives with none of the old messages on it at all.

What to remember
- Press and hold a photograph in any message, and Save is on the list that appears.
- If it matters, save it. Looking at something is not the same as having it.
- Auto-save can be set for one conversation at a time, which is nearly always the right answer.
