Use Wi-Fi in airplane mode
Use the Wi-Fi on a plane without turning airplane mode off.
Airplane mode switches Wi-Fi off along with the cell signal. It does not lock that switch — Wi-Fi can be turned back on.
That is how in-flight Wi-Fi works: the plane stays, and only Wi-Fi returns.
