Say what the clipboard is
Where a copied thing goes, and why the next copy replaces it.
When you copy, the thing goes onto the clipboard — a tray inside the computer with room for one item.
Copying anything else pushes the old one off. Nothing warns you, because nothing has gone wrong.
Key points
- The clipboard is the tray where a copied thing waits
- It holds one item, and the next copy takes its place
What to remember
- If something copied has gone, go back and copy it again.
- The clipboard holds the last thing you copied, and only that.
Try this
Copy one word, then copy a different word, then paste. The second word is what arrives.
